Open Source

This will be a page of open source resources that I use for work and personal.

*****

I love Open Source. The best place to get your open source resources:

  1. Source Forge
  2. Open Source Living

Here is a list of recommended open source resources that I am using.

When I bought my laptop, I  enjoyed the 60-day free trial for Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc.).

However, after that, I need to purchase the key, which is something I rather not do, because there are so many Open Source resources out there to replace Microsoft Office.

We have Open Office and NeoOffice.

Moving on, I love to edit photos but the Paint application is really giving me a headache.

Instead of using the existing Paint application, why not try Paint.NET?

There are other photo editing applications such as GIMP, MT Paint and Hugin.

As a freelancer, ocassionally I need to create PDF. There are a few applications that help to make it easy but I would recommend PDFCreator.

Web browsers can play a major role, especially for a freelancer like me. I have different purposes for different browsers.

Firefox for very important work (projects) and Chrome for personal use, like blogging and blog hopping.

Flock is reserved for emergency.

What about DVD burning? I have been searching for a reliable DVD burning tool (apart from Nero) and I found one very useful tool known as DVD Flick.

So, here you go, some of the best open source applications that are not only useful but also reliable.

Have fun!

p/s: will update, if I discover something new and useful.
