It seems easy enough. Type a resignation letter and hand in to your boss. In other words, fire your boss. However, are you ready to take on a whole new job that is totally new and different from what you have been doing all these while?
Freelancing is indeed very different from any full time job. You set your own working hours. Sometimes you work less, sometimes you work more. Weekdays or weekends make no difference.
It was rather hasty when I decided to quit my job and concentrate on what I love to do – writing.
Now, I have my own business and I am doing good. I plan to move forward with more ideas and I am implementing the ideas one at a time. For me, it seems perfect.
It is totally different when it comes to someone else – you, to be exact.
Can you say no to a 9 to 5 job? Pick an answer:

If you have chosen Yes:
Congratulations, you are sure of what you want to do. You have decided that it is time for you to try something new. Letting go of an existing full time job is not a problem for you. You will do your best to achieve what you have always wanted to do.
If you have chosen No:
You are not willing to let go of your full time job for fear that you can’t support yourself, which is natural, as everyone would have thought about it. The difference is those who dare to answer yes dare to take up the challenge and you are not.
If you have chosen Not Sure:
You simply have no idea what you want to do with your life or you are torn between a few choices in your life. Making just one decision is too hard.
My advice
Before you go into freelancing, make sure you have enough finance in your bank for the next 6 months, in case you didn’t manage to get any business within the period of time. Be sure that this is what you want to do because there is no turning back. Make sure you have the skills to work on what you want to do – writing, designing, translating and so on.

Honestly, I am still attached to my day job. Hardly anyway for me to start my own business anytime sooner but I do hope to have the courage to try something new.

I’m too young to consider a job change. I’m 29 and still in debt from College! So in the long run I’ll be here for a few more years. I get paid well; I enjoy the majority of my work and its great experience.
It is good that you enjoy your current job. Not many people enjoy their work in my area, especially me since I can't get better employment in any big companies here.

Many people do wish they can quit their job. I count myself lucky to be able to work at home. I wish you luck though.
My answer is no. I just can't image not having a steady income, even though I probably have enough to last 6 to 12 months.
