We speak, we write, we type and we read every day. Do you count how many times do you repeat a word every day? Of course, that is silly. However, a research shows that the most overused word in our life is ‘there‘.
Apparently, ‘you‘ is also an overused word in our daily life. “How are you?”, “Where are you going?” and “Are you going to eat that?” repeat themselves everyday and yet we never really notice it. After all we are referring to someone else. There is no way we can stop using ‘you‘ in our conversation.
Let us not forget about ‘if‘, ‘when‘ and ‘as‘. These are common overused words as well.
The next time you write an article, pay attention to how many times you have to repeat these words. Then figure out a way to minimise the use of these words — try other words.
How many times have I use these words in this post?
There : 1 time
You : 10 times
If : 1 time
When : 1 time
As : 2 times
The most overused words
1. There
2. You
3. If
4. When
5. As
What is the one word that you use often?
