This is my personal opinion.
I used to love to-do list.
I thought that a to-do list will help me keep track with my freelance writing.
During my first year in freelancing, sticky notes were my best friend.
To-do list on sticky notes seems like a neat way to keep track of the stuff that I need to do every day.
I have tried real sticky notes (that I stick to the side of my laptop), virtual sticky notes (that stick to the top right of the laptop screen) and others but in the end, I realise that to-do list is NOT suitable for me.
To write a to-do list is a waste of time for me.
I spent about 5 minutes planning on the stuff I need to do, but in the end, I failed to follow the to-do list.
The one reason why I failed to follow the to-do list is because I forget to look at the to-do list.
I guess I am just one of those who failed to follow a list.
Now, I work with the flow. No sticky notes to remind me of what I need to do and life is simple.
Do you use to-do list in your life?
You can find out more info on sticky notes, if you like.

I too used to consider to-do lists a waste of time for the same reason of not looking at them. But what if we make it a habit to look at them the first thing before work. That should work. It works for me. But instead of completing tasks in to do list in order, I decide depending on the need or priority at the time. When it doesn’t feel like doing that way, I will just sort the list from easy to hard tasks and do in that order.
I also follow “step-lists” meaning listing down steps on a particular type of task. That helps me repeat the task without becoming lethargic.
